Output Variables
Output variables are pieces of individual information that can be extracted from the survey/output data. Often output variables can be cross tabulated with other output variables, for example sales by industry classification. The list below contains all current and past output variables which have been released for this survey/output.
| Variable Name | Description |
| Table Wine | (under 15% Alc/Vol) |
| Fortified Wine | (15% Alc/Vol & over) |
| Production - litres | |
| Sales - litres |

Guide to Interpreting Data
Summary of Changes to Survey/Output ..The survey of the wine producers seems to have changed little since the mid-eighties.
Usage and Limitations of the Data ..The Alcohol Available for Consumption Hot off the Press includes series for total table and fortified wine (which includes sales and trade data).
Related Data Sources ..
Sampling Errors ..Not calculated
Non-sampling errors Non-sampling errors in the survey data may result from errors in the sample frame (ie units with wrong New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification), respondent error (ie wrong values supplied), mistakes made during processing survey results or non-response imputation. Statistics New Zealand adopts procedures to detect and minimise these types of errors but they may still occur and they are not quantifiable.
Caveats on Release ..Due to variations in the way production figures are calculated at the different wineries, production figures should be viewed with caution.
