Definition
Mainland meshblocks are meshblocks containing either land only areas, or land/water areas where the water area:
* has not been defined as an inland water meshblock,
* is not generally used for shipping activity, and/or
* where the water cannot be easily separated from the land based meshblock. For example, small lakes or rivers where the meshblock boundary runs down the centre of the river.

This excludes offshore islands (unless they are close to the coast in which case they may be hooked to a mainland meshblock), but may include some inlet and oceanic areas.

Example
