- Total passenger arrivals and departures numbered 7.12 million, up 4 percent on the December 2002 year.
- One-third of visitor arrivals were from Australia (702,200).
- The top 10 source countries contributed 1.66 million visitors or four-fifths of all visitor arrivals.
- Australia was the main destination for half of New Zealand resident short-term departures.
- Permanent and long-term arrivals exceeded departures by 34,900 in the December 2003 year.
