The Government Sector section of National Accounts compiles statistics measuring the effects of central and local government financial activity on the New Zealand economy.
Analysis of the effects of Government financial activity on New Zealand's economy is measured by the crown accounts. These accounts record the financial transactions of the Government with all other economic sectors, such as private enterprise, households, local government, state owned enterprises and the rest of the world. The coverage corresponds to the Government's financial statements for the core Crown Accounts, but presents this data in a New Zealand System of National Accounts (NZSNA) format. The analysis therefore provides an alternative statement of the major revenue and expenditure items.
